Mothers of Moderation offers peer support for mothers with mental health conditions, mothers on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), disabled mothers, mothers re-entering the community after incarceration, mothers from strategically disadvantaged communities (BIPOC), and mothers facing or who have faced criminal charges and/or the family policing system as a result of their pregnancy.
Megan, pictured to the left, is the founder and leader of Mothers Of Moderation. After nursing school, she gave birth in South Carolina and experienced arrest and prosecution for accusations she proved false the day of her child's birth. She understands the pain of being crushed by both the criminal system and civil child welfare system simultaneously. Working closely with a team of lawyers, she proved herself innocent and is prepared to assist you along your journey through the system. She also knows about healing in the aftermath of systemic violence. As a formerly incarcerated person, she can honestly say she understands the barriers faced by many mothers, and as a substance user, she has learned not to judge the journeys of those around her. She hopes that you are able to find hope somewhere in this page, in our meetings, or by connecting with one of us.
We provide a non-judgmental atmosphere of support for mothers at all stages of their journey.
We also offer individual support, art therapy, and crisis stabilization.

If you operate your own organization and are considering offering group peer support for your population, we would love to discuss how we can help! We can facilitate the groups for you, train your staff to facilitate groups, work with your current support group leaders to expand their skills, and even help you develop your own unique curriculum for your population!
